So I took one. I was having a week where things just didn’t seem to be moving. I was 100% unmotivated. I was at a mental block. So, I thought that taking a mental health day would help me get back into my normal groove. I approved it with both my managers and then decided to take Thursday (yesterday) off. It was the nicest day of the week, it was about 70 F out and sunny. SO why not right? Work was covered, and even if it wasn’t, I needed the damn day, so I was taking it.
I ended up waking up only 30 minutes late than I normally would for work, which I mean, fine, whatever. At least my body is able to tell that it has a routine. My first thought was “Damn, we have a lot of shit to do outside,” and that is because we have a lot of outside space actually. Way more than inside space at least, and I ain’t mad at it. The only issue is that it takes so much longer to make the outside look 1/2 as good as the inside. Whatever. So I was like, I am going to go to Home Depot first thing and get some mulch and start working on this section of my front yard.

So I get there, and its 9:30 AM so there aren’t a ton of people out, but enough that I don’t want to talk to anyone. SO I put on my headphones and walked into the garden section. Now, this isn’t my first rodeo with mulch. I think last year my hubs and I laid down 60+ bags of mulch. So I get all the shit I need, 10 bags of red, 2 bags of brown, and I load all that shit up in the car and come home. The thing is, I have a lot of ideas, but then do not want to execute them. So you know as soon as I got home I was like OK, over this. So I am like I ain’t doing it, I ain’t going outside, nothing. But of course then my hubs is like, “I have to go into the office,” and normally that would really be the time where I slob out, but I decided that I was going to be productive.
I ended up swiffering my kitchen, living room, and dining room followed by vaccuuming them all out as well. After that I made the dreaded 5 trips to the car and threw all the mulch in the front, 2 bags at a time, it was annoying and today I am paying for it with sore everything. The yard ended up coming together somewhat, considering I only worked on small part of it.
I made dinner, a spicy chicken pasta that was ready when Nick got home. We then spent some time in the back because we had to start burning some of the wood that we have. We have had some pretty bad storms lately and so we have a TON of wood and branches just everywhere. So I spent about an hour breaking down wood and then sat be the fire. I love the flames. I think it is so easy to get lost in them sometimes.

I ended up having a really nice “me” day. I think it is important that each of us takes into account what our minds and bodies are telling us. Sometimes you really just need a break and the ability to do whatever you want. Weekends aren’t always enough time to rest and feel like your “normal” self.
I am looking forward to this weekend, even if the forecast is calling for wind and rain. I am looking forward to spending more time outdoors. We are going to start building our camper soon so that should be fun. Hopefully it all works out!
If nobody has told you this lately, remember, YOU ARE AMAZING! Don’t forget that. Have a wonderful weekend ya’ll!
